Laser Skin Resurfacing @ InUrSkn

What is
Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Laser skin resurfacing with CO2 fractional laser at InUrSkn is a cutting-edge cosmetic procedure that utilizes the precision of an ablative laser to enhance skin texture and address various skin issues. The CO2 laser, renowned as the gold standard in ablative lasers, is expertly wielded by Dr. Sejal in a fractionated mode. This technique delivers the laser in a pixelated fashion, treating only a fraction of the skin at a time, which allows for targeted treatment of areas with scars, stretch marks, open pores, and other skin irregularities.

The process works by vaporizing skin layers to stimulate natural healing and collagen production, leading to rejuvenated, smoother, and more youthful-looking skin. This method is particularly effective in reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and age spots, while also improving overall skin tone and elasticity. The fractional approach ensures a faster recovery time compared to traditional resurfacing methods, making it a preferred choice for those seeking significant aesthetic improvements with minimal downtime.

Who should choose
Laser Skin Resurfacing

If you are concerned about the texture of your skin or its elasticity and have any of the below conditions, LSR may be suitable for you.

If you are concerned about signs of ageing showing on your face and have any of the below conditions, LSR may be suitable for you.

Patients with acne scars also benefit from Laser Skin Resurfacing as the micro injuries caused during the skin resurfacing process cause neo-vascularization and improve the cell metabolism. So when the micro injuries heal, the new skin is smoother and more supple. Over multiple sessions there can be a marked reduction in acne scars.

The most common reasons why patients seek full body skin rejuvenation are:

1. Chronic Generalized (wide spread) dry and dull skin

2. Generalized spread of marks and spots on large parts of the body like back etc. because of acne and other conditions.

3. Generalized darkening of skin or tanning because of sun exposure

4. Need for improving the overall texture and elasticity of the skin.

What is
Laser Skin Resurfacing?

CO2 lasers produce light at a 10,600 nm wavelength, which is absorbed by water in the tissue. The laser energy heats up the water until it reaches a boiling point causing the evaporation of the affected tissue.

In case of skin resurfacing, the laser beam is passed through a pattern scanner which allows for even more precise control of the laser and the ability to create a grid pattern of energy delivery in the treatment area.

Hence only miniature, controlled wounding of the skin occurs with the intermittent area being left unaffected. This leads to two basic effects:

1. It activates the collagen and elastin formation process in the skin. Collagen and Elastin are the basic proteins which hold the skin cells together and are instrumental in the form the skin takes.

2. This process also leads to neo-vascularization, that is formation of new blood vessels, leading to a much better blood flow and hence healthier skin.

Because of the above two effects when the skin heals, there is a substantial improvement in its texture and in case of any abnormalities like scars and stretch marks the treated skin on healing starts resembling the adjoining area rather than having a different texture or structure.

Know More About
Laser Skin Resurfacing

The following steps are typically followed in a laser skin resurfacing procedure:

1. A numbing cream is applied to the area to be treated for a period of about 30 minutes.

2. Dr. Sejal then sets the CO2 Fractional Laser Machine for parameters like intensity, duration and area to be covered.

3. Dr. Sejal then proceeds to carry out laser skin resurfacing on the area to be treated, ensuring an even spacing between laser shots.

4. The skin is then cleansed and an antibiotic cream is applied to ensure no infection can occur post treatment.

5. A soothing face mask is used to ensure that there is no inflammation of the skin.

6. The final step is to apply a moisturizer and sunscreen to ensure that treated area is protected from the environment and sun damage.

Here’s a list of key DOs and DON’Ts to follow before and after the procedure:

Avoid direct sun exposure for 2 days.

Wear a broad spectrum sunscreen.

Use a moisturiser.

Use a mild face wash.

Do not scrub or rub your skin.

Do not apply makeup for 24 hours.

Do not undergo any salon or spa procedure for upto 72 hours.

Do not wax, thread or bleach for 7 to 10 days

Immediately after the treatment, you may experience redness and mild swelling in the area that has been treated. This will subside automatically over the next 48 to 72 hours. There may be some minor scab formation, but these scabs will also fall off on their own.

After 72 hours, the skin will feel softer and more supple with a generalized feeling of tightening, also over the next week of so there will be a mild reduction in scars, pit marks and stretch marks in the treated area.

Please note that scars will not vanish in a single session, as a matter of fact multiple sessions are required to reduce the scarring and pit marks.

Oxygen Facial

An Oxygen facial (also called CO2 facial) works towards improving the metabolism of skin cells and increasing the collagen levels in your skin by a phenomenon called Bohr’s effect. This is the phenomenon in which by generating CO2 on the outer layer of skin, there is an increase in the O2 levels in the deeper layers of the skin. The increase in oxygen improves cell growth and cell biosynthesis leading to a better, younger looking skin.
