Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) is a highly advanced method of hair transplantation, known for its safety, minimal downtime, and impressive results.
In FUE, individual hair follicle units, each containing 3 to 4 hair roots, are meticulously extracted under local anesthesia from the donor area, typically the back of the scalp. These units are then carefully implanted one by one into the recipient area where hair is thinning.
This method is favored for its precision and minimal invasiveness, as it leaves no linear scars, requires no stitches, and causes minimal pain. Recovery is quick, allowing patients to resume normal activities as soon as the next day, making FUE a preferred choice for those seeking effective solutions to hair loss.
If you suffer from Male Pattern Baldness or Female Pattern Baldness, you may be a candidate for FUE hair transplant.
While FUE method of hair transplant is minimally invasive, it is a surgery nonetheless. Hence we advise only those patients who have already gone through medications and therapeutic treatments to consider undergoing a hair transplant.
It is important to note that one more consideration in who is a candidate for hair transplant is the grade of hair loss. We advise only patients who fall between grade 3 and grade 6 of the norwood scale to undergo hair transplant.

1. The donor area is shaved.
2. Hair follicles are harvested carefully one at a time from the donor area under local anesthesia. Each unit carries 3 to 4 hair roots.

Before FUE Hair Transplant
– Stop smoking and drinking two weeks before the procedure..
– Always discuss the medications with your doctor and stop or continue medications as prescribed.
– Avoid Heavy Exercise or anything that increases blood flow on the day of teh surgery or a day before it.
– Stop using any hair products or hair dye about two weeks before the procedure.
After FUE Hair Transplant
-Avoid streneous exercises
– Avoid heavy sweating
– Avoid Scrubbing the hair even during showers
– Avoid prolonged direct sun exposure
– Avoid sleeping flat or on your stomach, or any position that rubs the transplant area against any surface.
– In case of any swelling, you can softly apply ice pack to the swelling for short durations.
– Do not dye or use hair products for atleast a month.
– Stay Hydrated and avoid activities like smoking and drinking.

The hair follicles that take root are like your natural hair and will need to be tended to just like natural hair. These will last as long as natural hair. Over a period of time (can be years) these hair will start falling off.
The minimum spacing advised between two consecutive transfers is six months. Also the possibility of a repeat or incremental hair transplant depends on the hair follicles available in the donor areas.
The FUE method causes minimum wounding to the donor area and implant area both. Hence you can practically return back to work the next day. However you would be expected that the implant area is well protected from any physical abrasion and also from any possible sources of infection.
During the procedure a local anesthesia is given into the donor and implant areas making the procedure almost painless. Also since the wounding is minimum there is practically no pain after the procedure. There may be some localized redness and swelling which will subside automatically in a couple of days time.
There will be no permanent scarring of the scalp in either the donor or the recipient area.
A typical FUE transplant from start to finish takes between 4 to 6 hours.
Dr. Sejal recommends that one must carefully consider their hair style after a transplant. A proper hair style can give an impression of higher volume and density.
Also for the optimum results you will need to consider continuing with medications (oral and topical) as prescribed by Dr. Sejal.
Improving your lifestyle and avoiding smoking and drinking can affect hair growth and retention.
Actively working towards reducing stress by means of exercise and meditation is highly recommended.
A protein-rich diet and adequate hydration are highly recommended.
Lastly, avoid and salon procedures like cystine or keratin therapy and dyeing of hair for increasing the life of the hair follicles.
